Jeff Lemieux to Join AHIP; Scott Payne to Launch Energy and Environment Project; Kelly Buck to be Interim Executive Director and Project Manager for the Energy and Environmental Policy Project

Effective October 18, Centrists.Org co-founder Jeff Lemieux will resign as Executive Director.  He will remain an active member of the board of directors.

Lemieux has accepted a position at America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), where he will be Senior Vice President directing AHIP's new Center for Health Policy and Research.

General Manager Kelly Buck will serve as interim Executive Director, pending a search for a permanent replacement.  Centrists.Org will also initiate a search for a new director of the health care project.

 

Centrists.Org chairman and co-founder Maya MacGuineas expressed her thanks and congratulations.  "Under Jeff's leadership, Centrists.Org has carved out a vital niche for centrist policymaking," MacGuineas said.

"Over the last decade, my main passion in my career has narrowed toward one goal:  universal health coverage based on competing health plans," Lemieux stated.  "I have enjoyed every minute I've worked at Centrists.Org, and I am thrilled with the opportunity to work with AHIP on vital health policy issues."

 

Meanwhile, environmental scientist Scott Payne is set to launch Centrists.Org’s Energy and Environmental Policy Project.

 

Payne is the founder of an environmental research and consulting firm.  He has written a book promoting moderate approaches to expedite the cleanup of SuperFund sites and successfully applied innovative strategies at toxic waste sites to quickly and efficiently address environmental threats.

"I am delighted to bring on-the-ground experience to Centrists.Org,” says Payne. “We will develop energy policy ideas that protect, preserve, and enhance natural resources while sustaining economic interests.  Similarly, we will find centrist solutions that protect, preserve, and enhance human health and the environment."
