Legendary Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully is so beloved in Los Angeles, a  City Council member has proposed naming a stretch of road after him.

Gil Cedillo introduced a motion that would name a part of Elysian Park Avenue after Scully, who has been the Dodgers announcer since 1950 and moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles with the team in 1958.

“He is known for his dulcet voice, lyrically descriptive style, and signature introduction to Dodger games: ‘It’s time for Dodger baseball! Hi, everybody, and a very pleasant good (day/evening) to you, wherever you may be,'” Cedillo’s motion stated.

If the motion is granted, the stretch of road will be called “Vin Scully Avenue.”

Scully previously turned down an offer by Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti to rename a street near Dodgers Stadium after him in 2013.

Scully, 88, announced the 2016 season would be his last announcing for the Dodgers after 67 seasons.
